Day Two!

Ahhh.... Day two it feels like I have been attending classes for much longer, I think its just re-adjusting and figuring out a few clerical things such as writing down classes on the calendar and when special things are due. It may also be that the professors have given us a comprehensive schedule of what will be done on almost every class period (I love this!)

Today was less energetic to begin with the first day jitters have worn off and I think not drinking that extra cup of coffee was probably good, I was having a small excess energy problem yesterday.  After breakfast I wanted to get to class early because I was unsure of where it was in the building because that building is  the fitness center. Getting there a good 20ish minutes early I checked out a basketball, I have forgotten how much I enjoying lining up at the free-throw line, concentrating on breathing and positioning my body to be able to repeat that same motion over and over again. It helped me to focus on one thing and not worry about my mental list of things to do. My first class with Rick (Fundamentals of acting) was such an interesting experience; it felt a lot more like going to a fitness/ focusing class than an acting one. We began when he hit an instrument that looks like a bowl that is made out of blush-gray metal and that makes a sound similar to a gong only less shrill, and the sound felt heavier some how. The class proceeded by doing several other warm-up exercises that were similar to ones I had done at First Stage Camp.

My second class of the day with Janet, my first female theater instructor, is a course entitled Into to Theater. Before I proceed I think I need to give you a mental picture to better enjoy how she speaks. She is a medium height, You will first of all notice her aburn pixie locks, her nose is long and slightly rounded, her eyes deepset and dark. Her overall aperance reminds me of a statley english women.  Her voice is deep, with perfect diction, it has a slight accent that I can not place but filled with humor and blatent honesty. She warned us of the load we are about to recieve this year and she had us practice saying "Thank you, but NO!" I surmise that this course will be able to prepare us for what will be expected of us, and what we can expect in later life; we will most likely be working on the buissness side of the arts (i.e. contact sheets, resumes, networking...)

My final class of the day is my other gen-ed. English 103 with Diana (pronounced D-Anna) who is an incredable women. She has taught for over twenty years in the college and unversity system, worked as a reasercher for the department of education; been a community organizer, and is a single mother. She specializes in english, spanish, chicano and native american studies, Femist writers and figures; and this semester is teaching an on-line course in protest and feminist writings. We ask her if she ever takes vacations. (She does) She seems to relish in her cultural heritage and be one of the most down to earth people with that much education I have ever met. (she even apologized for having a us buy a book that was $60...I only paid half because I shoped around) She also has a way of communicating where you can tell she has that mom voice the one that is firm and will push you forward, but will also be there when you fall down; she also slipped into the student cant, which is interesting and refreshing.

Later today I walked my roomate to the co-op just to show her where it is; I was not lost today (Score!) and I am thinking that I am figuring out this city. My adventure for today was finding the mail box...yes I realize not as fun but equally as difficult because there is a dummy mailbox on the base floor of my building so I was fooled...tricked...underhandedly mistaken. I shall get a picture of the sneeky mail box soon.

As You reader may have noticed this is coming a day late but now its like a double gift two post in one day!

So for now:
~Another Day and Adventure Awaits~
